Speaking and Writing is part 1 of the test that tests your speaking, listening, and writing skills.
PTE Speaking
The speaking section begins with a personal introduction where you are expected to introduce yourself. The next section comes with several items for what you need to listen to each of them carefully to answer into the microphone.

Read aloud: You need to read aloud the text displayed on the screen.
Repeat sentence: You need to repeat the sentence exactly as you hear in the audio clip.
Describe image: You need to describe the image displayed on your screen.
Re-tell lecture: Retell the lecture in your own words. Usually, you’ll hear an academic lecture that you need to repeat.
Answer a short question: You have to answer the question in one or a few words. Generally, the question will be quite general and related to our day-to-day life.
With this, the PTE Speaking section comes to an end. Now, let’s have a look at the PTE Writing section- the other side of PTE part 1.
PTE Writing
Writing in PTE does not have any separate sections. It comes after the Speaking module. Once, you are done with the speaking module, clicking on the Next button will take you to the Writing part.
The PTE writing section assesses your writing skills in terms of how good you are in sentence formatting, grammar, and sticking to the given topic. Moreover, you will be judged based on the quality of your writing.

Moreover, you are expected to write responses in academic English using correct grammar and spelling.
Summarize written text: This task lasts for 10 minutes. In this, you are expected to summarize the given passage in one sentence at the bottom of the screen. Your score in this section is based on your writing quality and the presence of the key points in the passage.
Write an essay: As the name suggests, you are expected to write an essay with length 200-300 words in 20 minutes. You will have to plan, write and revise the essay about the given topic in 20 minutes. However, your response will be judged on your efficiency to develop a position, organize ideas, present supporting details and control the elements of standard written English.
